M:lab East Africa is a consortium of four organizations eMobilis , IHUB , World Wide Web Foundation, University of Nairobi. The program is designed to offer individuals who already have a software development background an opportunity to hone their skills on mobile applications technologies as well as develop their entrepreneurial skills. Technologies covered in the training include USSD, android, J2me, php, mysql, LWUIT, Mobile Web, User Experience Design, SMS, Systems Design. Business skills covered include the lean methodology, business model canvasses, monetization strategies for mobile innovation, customer development and user experience design.

This program was designed for students from various Universities across the country that participated and emerged as top 5 In the Android competition sponsored by Huawei in conjunction with Safaricom. The program is designed to offer knowledge of entrepreneurship, publication and monetization of applications. The program includes 3 Guest Speakers who are strong industry players in Mobile/Tech, General Business Principles e.g Finance and Raising Capital, Ecosystem, Trends, Top Apps, Advertising Model, General Business Module, Tech Start Ups, Tech industry in Kenya, Case Studies, Technology Language Mobile Phone Programming etc.

This is an exciting time for mobile app developers as the smart phone race heats up between the major players. As a developer, you are faced with an amazing opportunity to develop a mobile application that can be sold to millions of consumers worldwide using any of these platforms. Nokia in partnership with Microsoft are offering a training opportunity to mobile app developers in JKUAT . eMobilis' key mandate is to coordinate the program from end to end. This includes development of curriculum, program management, incubation for mobile apps development, developers publisher’s accounts and publishing process among others. Some of the modules are Introduction to Windows Mobile Phone, Introduction to Silver-light, User Interface Construction with Silver-light, User Interface Design, Using Databases, Networking with Windows Phone,XNA Framework and Creating Windows Phone Applications.
